Some may think that money, companionship or even a vacation is the key to happiness. But with these things comes the dreaded waiting 'til it comes (which, sometimes, it never seems to arrive).
The truth of the matter is that all the happiness you seek is already within you. There's no doubt that life happens to everyone. But have you ever seen a person who seemingly has gone through the same devastating situation as you and they still manage to smile and move on with their lives without a second thought? Well, those people understand the power of making the choice to not let that one incident ruin their day or their lives. Believe it or not, you have the same power too!
Perception is Everything
See, most people look at many situations from one side of the coin, which is usually the negative or down side, and over the years we have taught ourselves to think this way. But all those happy people have taught themselves to think the opposite. Many don't even realize this conditioning has happened.
For example, lets say you took a couple of days off from work to clean your house, run errands or to just relax. Then you get a call from your child's school saying that they're sick and needs to be picked up. Your first reaction is, "O no, I'm on my way!" But what is your initial thought? Is it "Great! There goes my time off!" or "Awesome! We get to spend time together without everyone else!" Which perception comes closest to yours?

The first not only brings unhappy feelings for those couple of days you're off but also every time you think about it and every time you tell the story. The second brings those positive, good feelings that we all want. The fact is that everything starts in your mind and if you're not happy then you need to take a look at your thoughts and your perception of every situation.
